The automotive wiring harness is a wiring component that connects various electrical equipments in a circuit, and is composed of a wire, a terminal, a sheath, an adhesive tape, a PVC pipe, a corrugated pipe, a waterproof heat-shrinkable tube, and some auxiliary materials such as packaging materials and protective materials. In order to facilitate the installation and maintenance, and to ensure that the electrical equipment can work under the most adverse conditions, the different specifications and colors of the electrical wires used in all electrical equipments of the whole vehicle are integrated into a single unit and the wires are bundled into bundles with insulating materials. This is both complete and reliable.
The automotive wiring harness has a very large number of wires, and the wires are of different colors for easy identification and maintenance. For the convenience of labeling in the circuit diagram, the wire cross-sectional area of the automotive wiring harness is also marked in front of the color code. The color of the wire is represented by a letter, and the color represented by it is noted in each circuit diagram. The color of the wire can be clearly expressed in the wiring diagram of the automotive wiring harness, which is often important for the drawing of the installation diagram.
For the selection of the color of the wire, monochrome should be preferred and two colors should be used. In addition, in the wiring diagram of the automobile wiring harness, the black wire should be used for the ground wire of various automotive electrical appliances, and the black wire has no other use than the ground wire. The color of the wire is marked with a color code, such as a single-color wire, the color is red, marked as +R, two-color wire, the first color is the main color, the second color is the auxiliary color, the main color is red, the auxiliary color is white, Labeled "RW"
The electrical equipment on the vehicle selects the cross-sectional area of the wire used according to the size of the load current. For long-time working electrical equipment, 60% of the actual current carrying capacity of the wire can be selected; for short-time working electrical equipment, 60% - 100% of the actual carrying capacity of the electrical wire can be used. For some electric appliances with extremely low current, such as the indicator circuit, the cross-sectional area of the conductor shall not be less than 0.5 mm2o in order to ensure the required mechanical strength.
Note that if the cross-sectional area of the wire is in millimeters, the division is not marked. For example: 1.25 R is the red conductor with a conductor cross-sectional area of 1.25 mm2; 1.0G/Y is the conductor with a cross-sectional area of 1.O0 mm2. The main color is green and the auxiliary color is yellow.
