On the evening of December 4, in Miami, Florida, USA, AeroMobil, a Slovakian startup, demonstrated the mystery of the world's first commercial design of flying cars. This aircraft, called the Pioneer Personal Air Landing Vehicle (PAL-V), sells for $ 599,900. It does not use the current form of hot electricity, but uses gasoline. Its top speed on the road can reach 100 miles per hour, its top speed can reach 200 mph, and its altitude can reach 125,000 feet. So far, it has 70 orders.
The CEO of PAL-V Motors stated that after four years of hard work, the R & D team has overcome technical and quality challenges and manufactured flying cars that meet current safety standards and global driving regulations. In addition, the driver of a PAL-V flying car must have both a car driving license and a flight qualification certificate.
This flying car can seat two people, with a power of 230hp and a four-cylinder engine. The body is made of carbon fiber and titanium aluminum alloy. The vehicle weighs 1,500 pounds and requires a 540-foot take-off runway and a 100-foot landing runway. The car can transform from a three-wheeler to a rotorcraft in 10 minutes, and it can accelerate from standstill to 60 miles per hour in 8 seconds.
"Maxim" magazine selected PAL-V as the company most likely to "real" launch a flying car in 2017. Two years later, this prediction became a reality.
Dingmans said that the PAL-V is not a helicopter, but a rotorcraft. Helicopter propellers need to be powered by power units, while rotorcraft propellers rely on airflow to drive them, so they are more like parachutes. With just the push of a button, the rotating blades fold up and gather on the roof like bat wings. It is reported that even if the car's two engines fail, the PAL-V's propeller can still rotate. The PAL-V is made of carbon fiber, titanium and aluminum and weighs 1,500 pounds. It takes 540 feet of runway for takeoff and only 100 feet for landing. The aircraft is equipped with a motorcycle-like handling system and relies on the pilot to tilt the vehicle with joysticks on the ground and in the air.
In the future, AeroMobil will also launch a cheaper version, which will be named Pal-V Liberty Sport, with a list price of $ 335,000.
