One of the most striking new developments in charging piles recently is the commissioning of the largest centralized electric vehicle charging station in the Beijing area built by State Grid Beijing Electric Power in the Wukesong Sports Center underground parking lot. The charging station has 80 DC charging piles of 60 kilowatts and 120 AC charging piles of 7 kilowatts, which can provide a maximum of about 1,300 vehicle charging services per day. According to a person from the State Grid Beijing Electric Power Company, in addition to the charging station in the underground parking lot of Wukesong Sports Center, the company will also complete the construction of charging stations such as the Shougang Ski Jumping Platform and the Changping Shangdian Service Area of Jingli Expressway this year.

The charging network further extends to townships.

Up to now, Beijing has cumulatively promoted 319,600 electric vehicles, making it the city with the largest charging pile in China. In 2019, it will charge about 1.29 billion kWh for various types of electric vehicles in Beijing, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 1.72 million tons. “State Grid Beijing Electric Power will focus on Beijing’s urban development plan and the growth trend of new energy vehicles this year. On the basis of the initial planned construction of 1,632 charging piles, an additional 1,187 charging pile construction plans will be implemented. A total of 2,819 charging pile construction projects will be implemented. Covering the Beijing city sub-center, the surrounding areas of the Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympic Games in 2022, the Jingli Expressway Service Area, the Daxing International Airport Airport Economic Zone and other areas."
