Global offshore wind power installed capacity will rebound in 2021

According to the latest forecast issued by Bloomberg New Energy Finance, by the end of this century, the cumulative global installed offshore wind power capacity will exceed 200 GW, reaching 206 GW.

In terms of installation, in 2020, affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, approximately 6 GW of new offshore wind power will be added globally, but driven by the Chinese market, a rebound is expected in 2021. After that, the annual installation volume will decrease and will start to increase year by year in 2024.

It is estimated that the global offshore wind power installation will reach its peak in 2030, about 28.5 GW, which means that the global supply chain will be further expanded in the next few years, and effective distribution of supply chain resources between regions is indispensable for the globalization of the industry a part of.

The world's major offshore wind turbine manufacturers will carefully consider the deployment of production bases to maintain a balance between supply and demand, not only to meet local demand, while maintaining global flexibility and reducing costs.
