On July 20th, the 5G fully connected smart manufacturing demonstration factory built by Midea, China Unicom, and Huawei in the Shunde plant of Midea’s kitchen heating division was officially unveiled. At the same time, the 5G integrated positioning technology, which was first applied in the global smart factory business, was officially launched.
5G full connection power, digital transformation into digital intelligence
The Shunde Factory of the Kitchen Heating Division has three major industrial parks, and is a modern digital factory that produces dishwashers, disinfection cabinets, stoves, water purifiers and drinking fountains. The factory is guided by the Midea Group's strategy of "all-round digitalization and all-round intelligence", leveraging the characteristics of 5G's large bandwidth, low latency, and wide connection to create a new 5G+ industrial Internet intelligent manufacturing model.
It took one year to combine the factory’s production and manufacturing processes, focusing on the eight major businesses of assembly, injection molding, and sheet metal, and the nine dimensions of “safety, quality, production, logistics, supply, equipment, products, energy, and operations”. The five elements of “materials, law, and environment” have designed the “985” digital construction map, and planned 19 applications including intelligent warehousing, intelligent vehicle management, AI intelligent monitoring, EHS security and more than 600 5G connection implementation plans. 5G fully connected factories will fundamentally improve production efficiency and benefits.
According to Wu Shoubao, general manager of the Shunde plant of the kitchen and water heater division of Midea Group, according to the overall 5G scenario, the plant plans a total of 55 scenarios. In 2021, 19 scenarios have been planned and 11 scenarios have been implemented at 70 points. There are 10 applications of technology. "With the use of 5G across the entire value chain and all scenarios, we need to build a model benchmarking model and smart manufacturing pilots. We hope that this factory will achieve a carbon peak in 2024 and achieve carbon neutrality in 2026."
In the Shunde plant of Midea’s kitchen heating division, high-quality 5G network supports the high-speed operation of the production line, 5G CPE real-time monitoring of the robot motor running dynamics, the robot arm operates neatly and efficiently, the AGV trolley is dispatched and delivered in place with zero error, and the 5G integrated high-precision positioning system ensures Warehouse management accounts are consistent, AI vision replaces manual quality inspection, which greatly reduces the rate of defective products. Workers wear AR equipment to achieve remote equipment maintenance. AR remote inspection allows work during the epidemic to be delivered on time... Behind the application scenario, the number is The transformation of digital intelligence has brought about a butterfly change in the efficiency of the manufacturing chain and value added. According to forecasts, this 5G fully connected factory is expected to save tens of millions of yuan in annual costs.Innovation and upgrade, 5G integration positioning for the first commercial use
The smart warehousing business based on 5G+Bluetooth AOA fusion positioning technology has been officially launched in the Shunde factory of Midea's kitchen heating division. This is the first application of 5G fusion positioning technology in the global smart factory business.
The traditional warehousing and logistics system in the park has long faced problems such as the inability of humans, machines and objects to track and locate, the unstable industrial WiFi network in mobile scenarios, and the difficulty of parallel maintenance of multiple networks, which increase the cost of personnel finding goods and affect the efficiency of warehousing and logistics. The emergence of 5G integrated positioning technology has empowered the digital upgrade of warehousing and logistics.
Midea, China Unicom, and Huawei’s joint ecological partners have formulated a smart warehousing solution based on 5G convergence positioning for manufacturing plant business pain points, and completed the upgrade and delivery. The application of 5G fusion positioning technology enables the location information of the factory's finished product warehouse to be accurately transmitted to the storage system, and is associated with the physical information. The system positioning is sub-meter-level accuracy, and the loading efficiency is increased by 50%, effectively reducing storage costs.
Midea Group IT Director Zhou Xiaoling said that Midea will join hands with China Unicom and Huawei to continue in-depth cooperation. It is hoped that under the leadership of the government, the upstream and downstream industry chains will be driven to overcome more problems, 5G will be applied to more scenarios, and more mature solutions will be discussed. Program. These experiences will not only be extended to Midea’s global production bases, but will also be used to empower the Midea Industrial Internet M·IOT to contribute to China’s smart manufacturing.
