As of early November 2017, a total of 1,400 ships were sold on the used boat market, totaling 79.4 million dwt. From the volume of shipments, it is clear that it has hit a new high since 2007, while from the perspective of deadweight, it is the second highest since 2007. However, due to the low ship prices, the total amount of second-hand shipments so far, far below the historical high of 19.4 billion U.S. dollars, is not only lower than the total turnover in 2007 but also lower than the 2014-2015 level. Statistics show that at the beginning of this year, Clarkson's used boat price index was 75 points, its lowest level since 1988, and by early November, the price index rose only 91 points despite its rise.
Sub-ship type of view, as of now, the volume of second-hand bulk carrier 573 ships, a total of 40.4 million dwt, the second highest since 2007, of which Handymax 62%, Panamax and Capesize Bulk carriers accounted for 38%. In addition, second-hand container ship and second-hand oil tanker (ship; shipyard; trading) volume was 250 and 284 respectively, totaling 950,000 TEU and 23,900,000 dwt.
